Heathcote MP Maryanne Stuart has encouraged bus commuters and residents of the Sutherland Shire to have their voices heard by the Bus Industry Taskforce at Bus Passenger Forums set to be held at Sutherland on the 22nd and 23rd of March.
The NSW Government started the Bus Industry Taskforce to make recommendations to improve the reliability, quality and effectiveness of bus services across NSW.
The Taskforce is engaging directly with passengers and local communities to hear what people want to get from their bus services.
Members of the public and representatives from community groups, local businesses and non-government organisations have been invited to have their say at Bus Passenger Forums across NSW. Wollongong hosted a Bus Passenger Forum for residents of the Illawarra on 13 October last year.
The Bus Passenger Forums for Sutherland will be held at:
• Friday 22 March, 11:00am - 12:30pm, Club on East, 7 East Parade, Sutherland NSW 2232
• Saturday 23 March, 10:00am - 11:30am, Sutherland Bus Interchange, East Parade, Sutherland NSW 2232
Commuters and residents can register to join in on the day at https://www.haveyoursay.nsw.gov.au/bus-industry-taskforce?tool=survey_tool&tool_id=register-for-an-in-person-session#tool_tab
Those who are unable to attend can still provide their feedback by visiting https://www.haveyoursay.nsw.gov.au/bus-industry-taskforce
Quotes attributable to Maryanne Stuart MP, Member for Heathcote:
“The Sutherland Shire was subject to unacceptable standards of service last year after the previous Government signed a contract with a provider that was unsuitable for the area.”
“Since then, we’ve seen a big improvement in service but there is still a long way to go.”
“We want to hear from commuters about how we can build a better bus service network.”
