Heathcote MP Maryanne Stuart has thanked passengers and residents for their engagement and openness at Bus Passenger Forums held by the Bus Industry Taskforce in Sutherland last week. Ms Stuart reminds residents that submissions to the taskforce can still be made before the consultation closes.
The forums in Sutherland were the last in the series held by the taskforce, at which members of the public and representatives from community groups, local businesses and non-government organisations were invited to have their say. The forums were attended by Parliamentary Secretary for Transport, Dr Marjorie O’Neill MP, and staff from Transport for NSW.
The series included a forum in Wollongong on 13 October 2023.
The NSW Government started the Bus Industry Taskforce to make recommendations to improve the reliability, quality, and effectiveness of bus services across NSW. The Taskforce has engaged directly with passengers and local communities to hear what people want to get from their bus services.
NSW.
The public consultation will still be open for contributions from the public until 5pm Sunday 31 March 2024. Contributions can be made at:

Quotes attributable to Maryanne Stuart MP, Member for Heathcote:
“I’m so grateful to all the bus passengers who contributed to the Bus Passenger Forums.”
“Passengers in the Sutherland Shire have been through a lot since the former Government signed a contract last year with a provider that was unsuitable for the area. I’m determined not to see repeats of the scenes that we saw last year after that contract was signed.”
“If you were unable to attend the forums, please make sure you have your voice heard through the public consultation before it closes on Sunday.”
