POTHOLES A GREAT CONCERN EAST HEATHCOTE RESIDENTS

28 June 2023

Heathcote MP Maryanne Stuart has met with East Heathcote residents regarding concerns with the state of the local roads.

Mrs Stuart said the area that was particularly problematic was near the historic Heathcote Hall – the site of a current development in progress.

As a result, Mrs Stuart wrote to Sutherland Shire Council requesting a timeline regarding the repair of the roads.

Mrs Stuart also said as there was no footpath on either side of Boronia Grove, residents – including those with prams and walking frames – had said they’d been forced onto to walk on the pothole ridden road.

“These aren’t small potholes – they are significant in size and depth and present a real risk to motorists, particularly at night,” Mrs Stuart said.

“I appreciate identifying and remedying potholes is a large task for every council throughout the state – including both councils in my electorate.

“However, as the Member for Heathcote it is my duty to represent my community and relay their concerns to the appropriate department, organisation or person.

“I have full faith that Sutherland Shire Council, now they have been made aware of the issues in East Heathcote, with resolve them in a timely manner.

“I’d also like to thank those residents throughout East Heathcote who took the time to contact me about the state of the local roads.”
