Teaching is not a profession that people choose for the salary. They become an educator because they want to shape our future leaders and help them be better people at the same time. It's a career that takes passion, dedication, hard work and perseverance. Chris Neaves is the epitome of what a teacher is – and should be. After 42 years with the NSW Department of Education, the past 15 as deputy principal at Bulli High School, Chris will retire at the end of this term. His retirement, whilst much deserved, is a huge loss for the Bulli High School community. He is so highly respected by all – staff, students, and families. I have spoken to principal Denise James on several occasions about Chris and every time she has spoken incredibly highly of his contribution to the school. Chris began his education career in special education and remained committed to supporting all students throughout his time as an educator. He has always prioritised the needs of the school community over his own – but now it's time Chris focuses on himself. Thank you again Chris for your service, efforts and the success of so many students over the past 42 years.
