There are so many wonderful groups located throughout the entire Heathcote electorate. Whether they be in the north of the electorate near Kirrawee , in the middle of the electorate in Helensburgh, or the southern end in northern suburbs of the Illawarra, there is no shortage of local organisations doing great things in the local community. One of those organisations is Circular Plastics Illawarra. Formed late last year, the groups aim is to create a circular plastics economy throughout the Illawarra region. I had the pleasure of meeting with some of the members recently in my electoral office to discuss some of the great work that Circular Plastics Illawarra do. There is no doubt plastics pollution is a major for all communities – particularly coastal communities like those in the Illawarra. Circular Plastics consist of 15 leaders in the environmental and research field including representatives from the University of Wollongong, Wollongong Council and Illawarra Shoalhaven Joint Organisation. Thank you to those members who took the time to talk to me about their vision. And thank you to every member of Circular Plastics Illawarra for your dedication, hard work and passion.
