Rain, hail or shine – nothing could stop Dr Charles Roger Badham from going to work. That's because he is a meteorologist. The Wombara resident has forged an extremely interesting career over the past five decades as a meteorologist. And in June 2023 he was recognised for his various contributions and was awarded an Order of Australia Medal as part of the 2023 King's Birthday honours. Dr Badham OAM has worked as a weather forecaster for: the Ferrari Formula One Team since 2008; Emirates New Zealand Team since 2000; 18 footer championships since 1977; and various sailing events such as the Invictus Games Australia. He has also worked for a number of media organisations again as a weather forecaster including: Channel 7; Channel 10; and Radio 2UE. Dr Badham OAM has worked as a weather consultant on 40 Sydney to Hobart races, 10 America's Cups, 10 Olympic Games and eight Admiral Cups. His Order of Australia Medal is the latest in an impressive list of accolades that includes: a Churchill Fellow (1981); and an Anzac Fellow (1985).
