Dr James Renwick has achieved many things throughout his life. A senior counsel, member of the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal, and the head of Australia's Independent National Security Legislation Monitor. Now, as of June 2023, he can add AM to his name. Dr Renwick was one of several residents throughout the Heathcote electorate to be recognised in the King's Birthday honours. Speaking to the Illawarra Mercury, Dr Renwick AM said he had some advice for those who were up and coming in the legal profession. 'My message for young lawyers… is that security and cyber law should fire their imagination and provoke their interest in practising in that area whether in government, in uniform or in private practice.' It was a thought provoking message from someone who has such an incredible standing in the legal fraternity. On behalf of all the residents throughout the Heathcote electorate, I would like to again congratulate Dr James Renwick AM on his King's Birthday recognition. It was incredibly well deserved and fitting for someone who has given so much time and energy to their profession. We are lucky in Heathcote to call you one of ours.
