Mental health is not always an easy subject to talk about, especially for younger members of our society. Fifteen per cent of young people aged 18 to 24 experience high or very high levels of psychological distress. That is why it is so fantastic to see the Engadine Dragons Junior Rugby League Club taking action to help open up those conversations and make sure that mental wellbeing gets the priority that it deserves. In 2021 the club launched Mental Fitness 4 Lifeā€”an initiative that adds education around mental fitness to footy skills. It has also included workshops on how boys and girls can look after their mates and themselves during tough times. The club registers players from two to 16, which is a crucial developmental stage for our young people in developing the mental resilience skills that they will be able to utilise for the rest of their lives. Young people of this age group are exactly the target demographic who need programs such as this. Congratulations, Engadine Dragons.
