It is an honour and privilege to speak about my good friend Geoff Coleman, who received a meritorious award as part of the King's birthday honours. Geoff has been a paramedic for 35 years. Geoff and his colleagues are the ones we all turn to in times of crisis. Geoff has a calm head and a steady hand and is the perfect type of person to be a paramedic. Goeff actually began his career with St John Ambulance in 1988 as a volunteer. However, that was not the end of his community service as he decided to sign up to be a member of the Great Rural Fire Brigade. Geoff is someone I regularly describe as selfless and who always prioritises the welfare of others over his own. This was particularly evident during the COVID-19 outbreak when Geoff, who is now a clinical training officer, stuck his hand up to assist. In my opinion, the meritorious award received as part of the King's birthday honours was well overdue. I thank Geoff for everything he has done for our community and congratulate him on a tremendous accolade.
