Schools are much more than places where students spend Monday to Friday learning maths, English, science, music and arts. They are thriving communities made up of students, teachers, staff, parents, volunteers and alumni. They are places where like-minded people band together for a common cause. This was certainly evident on Saturday, May 6, 2023, when members of the St John Bosco College Engadine community descended on Don Lucas Reserve at Wanda Beach for the 2023 Relay for Life fundraiser. The event, organised by the Cancer Council, is an annual event held throughout many communities ‑ including in Sutherland. The aim is simple – raise vital funds for the Cancer Council so it can continue its important work. At this year's event the St John Bosco College Engadine team raised more than $29,900.

It is an astonishing effort from all involved at the school to raise such an enormous amount of funds. It is also a great example of the way schools contribute to their local communities. Congratulations again to everyone involved in St John Bosco College Engadine's 2023 Relay for Life efforts. Your contributions are certainly appreciated by many.
